Live wind station readings
Wind stations near you, drawn on the terrain they sit on. One arrow per station, coloured by how strong the wind is. A station name can't tell you whether a reading came from a valley floor or a summit. Its position on the map does.
The arrows sit on top of XCTrack's own map. Three steps to get them there.
On your phone: tap Copy, then paste it into XCTrack in step 3.
On a computer: point your phone's camera at the QR code.
In XCTrack, edit a page and add two widgets on top of each other: its own map underneath, and Windmap above it. The Web page widget is an XCTrack Pro feature, as is the rain radar below.
Did it work? Windmap draws a small scale bar just above XCTrack's own. If the two bars are the same length, you're set. You never have to read either number. If they differ, change XCTrack's map scale until they match.
Don't shorten the link. The ${lat} and ${lng}
at the end let XCTrack hand over its last known position, so the arrows
appear immediately instead of after the GPS locks on.
Under Advanced settings → Interactive mode, and off by default. They need Allow tapping on the web page when locked turned on, and once it is, Windmap takes every tap over its own area, so move XCTrack's zoom buttons outside it or they will stop responding.
The colours are not a safety verdict. They are a rough aid, not an assessment of whether a flight is safe. Everything shown is measured: altitude, speed, gust and direction, with no interpolation between stations and no lee-side guesses. Readings cannot work offline. Anything marked stale is old and must be treated as unknown.
Your position stays on your phone. Only the area around you is sent to winds.mobi, to ask which stations are in it. No accounts, and no profile of you anywhere. This setup page counts visits (Cloudflare Web Analytics: page views and country, no cookies, nothing stored on your device). The overlay and the list never do.
